Our Christmas Concert

It's show time!! We have been practising and practising and now the days are getting closer!! We'll have a dress rehearsal on Wed. 9:30, a 2:00 show on Thurs. and a 12:15 performance on Fri. We hope that one of those times suits your busy schedules. I thought you might enjoy this video and I'd like to think we're just as good...chaotic?? Just kidding! Hope you enjoy both!

October Fun

We have been very busy these past few weeks! We followed directed drawing instructions to draw "mom". After reading the book, "My Mom Has X-ray Vision", we made our own x-ray vision glasses. We also had presentations form some of our Top Bananas and they did a great job telling about their items. The K's also worked on some scientific leaf investigations using their senses and some were brave enough to taste the leaf!! We also learned how to rotate through work stations where we did some patterning, building, creating and playing a (our favorite character "Pete the Cat") dice roll game. We finished off the week with a visitor from Japan who taught some Japenese action songs. Thank you Kumiko! We hope you enjoy seeing us in action.

Our First Week of Kindergarten

We had a wonderful week in Kindergarten! We met as a small group and began our routines. We read and played games and sang each day. On Friday we joined our small groups and became a class. We hope you enjoy looking into our first week of fun and learning.

Group Lists and Schedule for Start Up

Group 1: Ethan, Gideon, Autumn, Peyton, Josh Z., Mackenzie, BreAnn, Jared
Group 2: Jay, Samuel, Havana, Kolton, Abby, Quinn, Hayley, Joshua L.

Group 1 will begin in the morning starting Thursday, Sept. 8 for 3 consecutive days then switch to the afternoons for the next 3 days.

Group 2 will begin afternoons starting Thursday, Sept. 8 for 3 days and then switch to the mornings for the next 3 days.

We will come together as a whole group for the full day on Friday, September 16.

This will be our theme when we gather in September. I'm busy getting the groups and dates together and will be posting them soon.

Orientation Day 2011

Here are some of our new friends and their parents on our orientation day. I can hardly wait until I can turn the classroom into a real kindergarten room. Thanks to my "old" grade 3's for letting me use the classroom to host the new K's. We are sorry that Gideon, Hayley and Sam were unable to attend. See you all again in September!

Our Orientation Day

Today was our orientation day and what a terrific crew we have! Thanks to all of the parents who were able to make it out and if you weren't able to make the day, I'll be sending you all the information that was shared in August. I'll be posting pictures very soon!

Thinking about Sept.

I was lucky enough to stumble upon this video after looking at some fantastic teacher blogs.  This one was from Alberta.  It made me really think about the responsibility that comes with teaching Kindergarten. I'm a mom of 3 great kids and I pray when their September comes they too will have a teacher who takes on the responsibility.
